2,902 graduate BALS Basic Literacy Program

LAGAWE, Ifugao, Jan. 10(PIA) -- Two thousand nine hundred two (2,902) individuals in this province recently graduated from the Department of Education -Bureau of Alternative Learning System (DepEd- BALS) Basic Literacy Program (BLP).

BALS-Ifugao Provincial Coordinator Arsenio Yongoyong reported that out of the 2,902 completers, 731 finished the BLP, 258 graduated in the elementary and 1,970 completed the secondary level education under this program.

In the elementary level, 12 completed their course through the Radio-Based Instruction while there were 29 in the secondary level and 19 finished their secondary education through the eSkwela project.

In addition, 250 also completed their Balik Paaralan Para sa Out-of-School Adults in the secondary level administered by 12 mobile teachers assigned to the different municipalities.

Yongoyong also related that last year they were able to establish 16 mobile libraries for the BLP, 12 in the elementary BLP and 29 in the secondary BLP dispersed to the different places where the classes were held.

He attributed the accomplishments to the successful advocacy of the BALS programs and projects to all their stakeholders by the mobile teachers and District BALS Coordinators during their regular sessions and interface meetings with local officials.

The BALS is a government agency that envisions itself to be the best producer of lifelong learners among Filipinos in partnership with other producers of learning developing exemplary programs and open learning opportunities to achieve multiple learning literacy for all.(JDP/DBC-PIA CAR,Ifugao)
