Mt. Province equips its DRRM office

by Juliet Saley

BONTOC, Mt. Province, Jan. 13 (PIA) -- Recognizing the important role the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) plays in times of emergencies and disasters, the provincial government here procured various rescue equipment and gadgets and provided trainings for its personnel for the PDRRMO to function effectively.

According to PDRRMO officer Anacleto Tangilag, the province has also purchased a vehicle for the PDRRMO which will be used in monitoring disaster related activities.

Tangilag also said that the province was able to acquire from the Office of the Civil Defense one unit of satellite-telephone equipped with Global Positioning System (GPS) which will be used exclusively during emergency situations or rescue operations. This is seen as a very vital instrument especially that the province is prone to landslides and often isolated during strong typhoons.

The PDRRMO was organized pursuant to Republic Act No. 10121 otherwise known as the “Philippines Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010.” (JDP/JBS-PIA CAR,Mt. Province)
