New outpost inaugurated; Gov says more to be built

by Maritess B. Beñas

BANGUED, Abra, Jan. 18 (PIA) -- A new outpost of the Joint Peace and Security Coordinating Center (JPSCC) was recently inaugurated here as part of sustained efforts towards a genuine and lasting peace in the province.

“I want to see the services of the JPSCC on a very professional manner that I don’t want them to be staying in an outpost that looks like a pig pen that’s why I gave priority to the construction of this outpost,” Governor Eustaquio P. Bersamin said during the inauguration of the newly constructed JPSCC outpost at Brgy. Zone 7, Bangued on January 16.

The outpost was funded by the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) in the amount of P800,000.

The JPSCC outposts carry the concept of the conventional Community Police Assistance Center (COMPAC) so that people can go in times of need without necessarily going to the municipal police station or to the provincial police headquarters.

This is manned by the PNP with the Philippine Army providing assistance.

Bersamin likewise vowed to fast track the construction of another outpost in Sinalang and to build more outposts in strategic areas in the province to maximize the visibility of policemen and to provide access for the general public to police officers whom they can run to in case of emergencies.

The new structure was blessed by Rev. Samuel Baruela. The governor then formally turnover the keys to the PNP represented by Police Cordillera Regional Director, PCSupt. Benjamin B. Magalong and to the Philippine Army thru Col. Eliseo C. Posadas, Commanding Officer of the 503rd Infantry Brigade. (JDP/MTBB-PIA CAR,Abra)
