Lagawe police inspect computer shops,'takal-takal' stores

LAGAWE, Ifugao, Jan. 20 (PIA) -- The police here have inspected computer or internet cafes and stores selling bottled gasoline and other petroleum product ('takal-takal" ) to check if they are complying with the provisions of the local laws.

Municipal Station Commander Senior Inspector Aquino Bayangan said they had inspected eight computer shops and internet cafes at Barangay Poblacion East this week to see if there are students and pupil customers in said establishments especially during school days and class hours.

He reported that they have not found violators but they will still regularly conduct inspection to ensure that the law is consistently implemented.

The municipal council had come up with an ordinance regulating the operations of computer shops upon the request of many parents last year because of the constant absences and even dropping out of their children from school due to their addiction to computer games and movies.

The reports were validated and investigation found out that most of the computer establishments are located at the center barangay of Poblacion East which are also very near the schools, tempting pupils and students to devote their time mostly playing computer games and abandoning their studies even to the extent of staying there until very late in the evening.

On the other hand, the ordinance prohibiting the rampant sale of bottled gasoline and other inflammable petroleum products, was made upon the recommendation of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Counci in order to avert disaster that can result to loss of lives and properties, as these are not observing the safety measures provided in their business permits.

The police said they inspected six stores selling these inflammable petroleum products and discovered that they are not yet in full compliance with the safety measures provided by the law. They gave them a stern warning that a repetition of the same violation when they come for another inspection will be dealt more seriously.(DBC/PIA-Ifugao)
