Ifugao town appropriates funds to boost OTOPASIPULO, Ifugao,Jan. 24 (PIA) --The municipal officials have appropriated P250,000 annually in efforts to sustain the One Town One Product (OTOP) here.
Municipal Ordinance No. 2011-03 entitled 'An ordinance setting an annual appropriation of P250,000.00 as support fund to the OTOP," which is coffee production. The yearly appropriation comes from the 20 percent development fund.
The local government unit of Asipulo headed by Mayor Eladio Bangu-ud and Vice Mayor Tomas Pullupul adopted coffee as the OTOP of the municipality through Sangguniang Bayan Resolution No.2007-75.
“In sustaining the OTOP, the farmer producers must be fully equipped with proper knowledge and skills in the coffee production and trade by providing a regular financial assistance,” Bang-ud said.
The amount shall be used in undertaking the following programs and projects: procurement or production of Arabica seedlings; conduct of meetings, trainings and seminars; establishment of knowledge and skills of farmers through cross-farm visits to model farms; participation in coffee trade fairs; provision of post-harvest facilities such as drying pavements, storage facilities; construction of farm to market roads.
