Tabuk tops 2011 revenue collection performance in Kalinga

by Larry Lopez

TABUK CITY, Kalinga,Jan. 26 (PIA) -- This city stands as the top performer in tax collection pouring in 62 percent of the province’s total tax revenues in 2011.

Based on the figures of Revenue District Office (RDO) 11, Tabuk City pumped-in P139,670,639 of the total P223,874317 tax revenue of Kalinga for the period.

Among the other seven towns in the province, Pinukpuk collected the second highest taxes with P6,154,151 followed by Rizal with P4,270,527.

RDO 11 Officer-In-Charge Dominga Bangao admitted there is a need to improve the tax collection system particularly on business establishments in the upper towns of the province as shown from recent tax mapping.

Bangao elaborated on the “one-stop-shop” system being practiced in Tabuk, which she attributed as the major factor for the high collection performance in the area.

According to her, the one-stop-shop system provides a collection agency where representatives of all government agencies involved in issuances of business permits and licenses hold office in one center.

In Tabuk, renewal of business licenses and permits is done at the center and therefore there is control on tax collection, Bangao said.

Since the establishment of the center in Tabuk, she said, there was significant increase in revenue collection and this could help if applied in other towns of the province.(JDP/LL- PIA CAR,Kalinga)
