BFP revamps 31 key officials
MANILA, May 5 (PIA) -- At least 31 key posts in the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, and Bicol regions have been affected by a recent revamp.
According to Secretary Jesse M. Robredo, of the 31 promoted or reassigned BFP officials, 12 are in Metro Manila, 17 in Calabarzon, one in Mimaropa, and one in the Bicol Region.
“The changing of the guards is a usual practice in our fire organization in order to further strengthen institution and avoid familiarity,” Robredo said.
He said the reshuffle of fire officials is in line with the provisions of Republic Acts 6975 (DILG Act of 1990) and 9263 (Bureau of Fire Protection and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology Act of 2004) and their implementing rules.
“The basic considerations were the fire officers’ performance, seniority, ranks, relevant trainings, and the maximum two-year tour of duty,” he said.
Among those who were relieved from their posts and reassigned to new posts were: SSupt. Armando Custodio, Provincial Fire Marshal (PFM), Cavite to Assistant Regional Director for Administration (ARDA) and concurrent PFM, Cavite; Supt. Reynaldo Lorenzo from PFM, Rizal to Assistant Regional Director for Operations (ARDO); Supt. Josepito Albos, ARDO/OIC-IAS to RCDS concurrent chief, IAS; Supt. Ruel Viray, City Fire Marshal (CFM), Tagaytay City Fire Station to CFM, Dasmarinas City Fire Station; Supt. Rommel Tradio, Chief, Operations to CFM, Batangas City Fire Station; CInsp. The DILG chief said the concerned DILG regional directors shall be responsible for the reassignment of incumbent fire marshals who are affected by the implementation of the directive, upon his confirmation and taking into consideration the required rank for the position/ designation as provided by RA 9263.
“Affected officials are also required to clear themselves of property and money accountabilities before reporting to their new assignments,” Robredo said. (DILG/RJB/JCP-PIA NCR)
