Taxpayers have only until January 20 to avail of discounted real property tax payments

by Merlito G. Edale, Jr.

SANTIAGO CITY, Isabela, January 12 (PIA) –- The Santiago City Tresury Office said 20 percent discount for Real Property Tax (RPT) ended last December 31 but taxpayers still have until January 20 to avail of the 10 percent discount said Local treasury operations officer Claro Rosendo

Rosendo clarified that business taxes are not covered with the discount but only on real property taxes that are being paid until January 20 this year.

He said business taxes paid until January 20 will remain as it is but those paid beyond the January 20, 2012 deadline will be charged a 25 pecent surcharge and monthly penalties of 2 percent of the total payment.

Rosendo said businessmen who can't pay their business taxes in full, can pay quarterly to the city treasurer’s office.

The local treasury official urged real property owners and business owners to settle early their tax obligations in the city to avail of the discounts and to avoid surcharges and interests. (TCB/MGE/PIA- Isabela)
