Angeles, San Fernando cities forge sisterhoodby Carlo Lorenzo J. Datu
ANGELES CITY, Pampanga Jan 12 (PIA) -- The cities of Angeles and San Fernando in Pampanga recently forged a sisterhood accord to foster favorable relations and cooperation between the two local government units and their constituencies.
City Mayors Edgardo Pamintuan of Angeles and Oscar Rodriguez of San Fernando signed the memorandum of agreement in a ceremony held at the historic Museo ning Angeles.
The pact covers exchange of ideas and resources in various fields that include education, science & technology, culture & arts, tourism, planning & urban development, trade & industry, youth welfare, sports, environmental protection, agriculture, health, social services, and disaster mitigation and preparedness.
In a statement, Pamintuan said, “the sisterhood agreement stemmed out of a common desire of both cities to devote unquantifiable concern and attention in promoting general welfare of their constituents.”
Pamintuan added that “Good governance sans boundaries – the sharing of our policies will truly do good as both our cities may freely exchange ideas which are mutually beneficial for our constituents.”
For his part, Rodriguez said, “the agreement will contribute to the resiliency of Angeles and San Fernando, especially in the aspect of disaster mitigation and preparedness.”
“We will end parochialism – wala nang kanya-kanya. Our partnership with other cities and local governments is a necessary element for resiliency,” Rodriguez explained. (WLB/CLJD-PIA 3)
