DepEd seeks parental support of parents for the Early Registration of students

by Camille Nagaño

CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva Ecija, Jan 14 (PIA) -– The province of Nueva Ecija is ready for the Early Registration of schoolaged children.

Tarcila Javier, Schools Division Superintendent of the Department of Education (DepEd) in Nueva Ecija, called on parents and guardians to register their children and wards in the nearest public school this January 28.

Javier extended the call even to street families, indigenous peoples, and parents of children with disabilities.

The January 28 Early Registration aims to cover children ages five to six years old for kindergarten and Grade 1, as well as to enrol out-of-schoolchildren and out-of-school youths ages five to 18 years old from indigenous groups and street families.

DepEd has programs like the Alternative Learning System that poor families could choose.

Inputs from Early Registration may be used as a tool to find children with disabilities so the department could offer help or may develop tailor-fit programs for them.

Based on DepEd Department Order No. 4 Series of 2012, data from early registration may help the regional/provincial, city/municipal levels of the department to develop Catch-Up Plan for school year 2012-2013 up to 2014-2015.

The same information will provide DepEd insight as to the amount of resources needed to support the schooling of children this year and onwards. (WLB/CN PIA-3)
