Mayor: Not all beneficiaries of Galing card will be subsidized for Philhealth

BALANGA CITY, Bataan, Jan. 15 (PIA) -- Not all Galing Card members in this city will be enrolled and be given subsidy for Philhealth insurance.

According to Mayor Jose Enrique Garcia III, “The national government is limiting the subsidy of Philhealth for indigent Filipinos only.”

However, Garcia assured in a recent study made by the provincial, city government of Bataan and Bataan General Hospital (BGH), the usage of Health fund for this year will be allotted in support and purchase of necessary equipment and medicines to be used in BGH instead of paying for Philhealth premium.

He added, “the benefit of this allotted fund will increase the beneficiaries, and will also add up to the fund for Healthy Lifestyle program of the Health Office in its vision to prevent the spread of diseases.”

The said program includes the “No Smoking” regulations, “Hataw sa umaga exercise program,” LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) conversion program for tricycles, and the proper disposal of garbage.

For 2011, P3.8 million were covered from the hospital bill of BGH of Galing card members.

The Galing Card Program is a special health service for enrolled members at the National Health Insurance Program (NHIP) “Medicare para sa Masa” for them to be confined at BGH.

Garcia explained that the regular in-patient medicare package include hospital benefits for room and board, medicines, laboratory and professional fees.

The Galing Card coverage includes the head of the family and extended to the legitimate spouse, non-member children below 21 years old, unmarried and unemployed, and parents 60 years old above. (WLB/JGB- PIA 3)
