PIA Press Release Sunday, January 15, 2012San Fernando Gov hires new doctors and nurses for revamped hospitalsby Erlinda T. Yutuc CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Jan. 15 (PIA) -- Gov. Lilia G. Pineda is hiring additional medical manpower to equip the newly completed and refurbished district hospitals in Magalang, Bacolor, Lubao and Macabebe with highly competent medical specialists, nurses and other personnel to respond to the needs of the time. The governor said, for almost 20 years or since the devolution of public hospitals to the provincial government, district hospitals suffered from lack of necessary medical personnel resulting sometimes to the poor delivery of medical services. With this, Pineda said she will form her medical consultants into a pool of medical specialists who are on call and will serve as roving doctors to nine district hospitals and one provincial hospital to cope with the needed medical needs and services of the hospitals. The governor and other officials of the provincial capitol recently met with regional directors of government agencies to map out plans and strategies to ensure the effective and efficient management and operations of the public hospitals under the supervision of the provincial capitol. The governor spearheaded the half-day consultation meeting last week with regional directors Benito F. Arca of the Department of Health (DOH), Elisa Salon of the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) and Karin Litz Serna of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) held at Benigno Aquino Memorial Hall at the provincial capitol compound. Provincial Board Members Cris Garbo, Nestor Tolentino, Ric Yabut, Salvador Dimson, Jr., Teresito Lingad, Melchor Pingul, Tars Halili and Fritzie Dizon joined the said meeting together with Provincial Administrator Atty. Andres S. Pangilinan, Jr., Atty. Cecil Andin, Luis Rivera, Human Resource Management Office (HRMO) head and other concerned department heads of the capitol. The health, budget and civil service heads gave the provincial government officials several suggestions to properly address their concerns on the hiring and placement of competent and capable medical specialists and staff to ensure quality hospital service. It was also suggested that chiefs of district hospitals undergo trainings on hospital administration, which the University of the Philippines offers through distance learning program to further improve the management of these government hospitals. “Nakasalalay ang ganda ng serbisyo ng mga ospital sa managerial skills ng chiefs of hospitals, at sa kanilang pakikipag-ugnayan sa mga staff, pasyente, pati na sa komunidad. (The quality of service given by the hospital is dependent on the managerial skills of chiefs of hospitals and and their coordination with the staff, patient and community.)”Arca pointed out. The provincial chief executive agrees to the suggestions as she assured the regional executives that the Sangguiang Panlalawigan (SP) would work on them at soon as possible. (WLB/ETY Pampanga PIO) |
