Phils to become one of the biggest supplier of Coach worldwide

By Joelyn G. Baluyut

CONCEPCION, Tarlac, Jan. 19 (PIA) -- As Coach International Ltd. is seeing the potential of working in the Philippines, it is no wonder that eventually, the Philippines will become one of the biggest supplier of the said brand worldwide.

This was disclosed by Senior Vice President of Coach International Limited Martyn James during the grand opening of the D’Luxe Bags Philippines here in Barangay Sta. Rosa which is part of the Luen Thai Group that manufactures and exports leather goods under the brand Coach.

James said, “Philippine workers with their skills, dedication and drive has achieved a remarkable growth and success in the factory here in Tarlac, where it has grown 20,000 units in nine to ten months.”

Moreover, he added that his company will be “employing more Filipino talents in the future following the Philippine philosophy on working on the rural areas and building a bigger and more successful business.”

This is because when Luen Thai became a major shareholder in 2008, Coach has grown the business ten times quicker and bigger, James said.

As of December 2011, D’Luxe has 1,200 employees and is producing 90,000 to 100,000 bags per month.

Luen Thai is one of the world’s premier apparel manufacturing companies. It is also a key global end-to-end supply chain services provider. Its line of offering ranges from product design to fabric sourcing and development, manufacturing and outsourcing as well as logistics functions.

It has currently three operating facilities in Cebu, Clark Freeport Zone. and Tarlac. A facility is soon tot open in Bataan. (WLB/JGB- PIA 3)
