Ecija Girl Scouts to occupy Fort Magsaysay

CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva Ecija, Jan. 22 (PIA) -- Fort Magsaysay, the Philippines' largest military camp located in Palayan City in this province, will be hosting 3,000 members of the Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP) this week.

Dubbed as the 55th Junior and Senior Provincial Encampment, GSP aims to promote awareness of human rights and denouncement of violence against female children.

Participants will be coming from the various school divisions of Nueva Ecija.

The juniors are scouts that are in the 9 - 12 years old bracket while the seniors are aged between 13 to 17 years old.

Elements of the 7th Infantry Division will be assisting the scouts as they settle down at the fort's Tent City starting Jan. 23.

The Tent City continues to be a favorite venue of several unilateral and bilateral military exercises.

Kick off rites opens on Jan. 24, 9 am at the 7th Infantry Division Grandstand and Parade Grounds.

Leading the guest list are 3rd District Representative Czarina Umali, Nueva Ecija GSP Council President Eufronica Seranilla, Nueva Ecija School Division Superintendent Tarcilla Javier and 7th Infantry Division Commander Major General Jose Z. Mabanta Jr. (WLB/LDRP PIA-3)
