SP endorses Las Nieves’ request to Regional Development Council in Caraga

AGUSAN DEL NORTE, Jan. 24 (PIA) -- The Sangguniang Panlalawigan unanimously endorsed a municipal resolution from the Sangguniang Bayan of Las Nieves of this province to the chairperson of the Regional Development Council (RDC) for the conversion of Mat-i, Ambacon, Pinan-an – Communal Irrigation Project (MAP-CIP) into a National Irrigation System under the National Irrigation Administration.

This is in support of the desire of Las Nieves officials to ensure the annual financial condition of the project.

MAP-CIP is an irrigation project in the municipality under the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) and was already turned-over to the People’s Organization, purposely to the agrarian reform beneficiaries.

The project intends to boost the agricultural activities in this part of the region but the current status of its maintenance and operation is not so well-executed due to lack of financial capability.

“The fluctuating yield of the farmers due to unpredictable weather condition caused by the climate change occurrence need intervention of the national government,” SB Member Timoteo U. Largo, author of said resolution stressed.

He also said that conversion will bring in good harvest to thefarmers amid the unpredictable weather condition caused by the climate change. (FRJayoma/PIA-Agusan del Norte)
