PNP Batangas reports accomplishment on campaign against illegal drugs

BATANGAS CITY, Jan 1 (PIA) -- As a result of their unrelenting campaign against illegal drugs in the province, the provincial police office (PPO) of the Philippine National Police in Batangas was able to conduct 287 search and seizure operations last year.

“We are persistent in our endeavor to lessen if not totally eradicate prohibited drugs in the whole province,” PNP provincial director P/Sr. Supt. Rosauro Acio said.

Based on the PPO’s records, 164 pushers and 275 users were arrested from January to December last year. Out of the 439 arrested, 238 had already been filed with the necessary courts and presently in the process of litigation while the suspects are in jail.

On the same period, 654 sachets of shabu and 55 sachets, 127 tea bags, five sticks, and one fully grown marijuana plant were also seized in the different police operations conducted in the province.

Tanauan City recorded the highest number of operations conducted against illegal drugs with 43; followed by Batangas City, 42; and Lipa City, 36. In addition, Lipa City recorded the highest number of drug pushers arrested, 31 and Tanauan City with the most number of users arrested, 82.

Meanwhile, Acio said this year, the PPO will vigorously continue its operations against illegal drugs which affect the youths hooked on it. “This is one of the biggest problems in the country that also create problems on peace and order and ruin lives of people including its future.”

In conclusion, the provincial director called on everybody to cooperate and help in their campaign against illegal drugs by giving information that would expedite the solution of the problem for the welfare of the populace. (CPG, PIA-Calabarzon with report from PNP-Batangas)
