500 residents, avail of free medical and dental servicesSTA. TERESITA, Batangas, January 5 (PIA) -- About 500 residents from the different barangays in this municipality took advantage of the free medical and dental services, held recently on the town’s 50th founding anniversary.
The municipal health officers (MHO) of neighboring towns of Taal, Agoncillo, San Luis and two private doctors joined Sta. Teresita MHO Dr. Eufracia Patron in providing free consultation to the different ailments of patients needing medical attention.
“One of the priority programs of the local government is health services aside from other programs that are being implemented in the different parts of the municipality,” Patron said.
She added that the free medical and dental services was a big help to poor people who have no financial capability in seeking advice from a doctor or consulting health specialist.
In response, the beneficiaries profusely thanked the doctors participated in the activity and extended gratefulness to the local government for organizing such services for the welfare of the people.
Meanwhile, the national government through the Department of Health (DoH) is espousing “Kalusugan Pangkalahatan,” the health reform agenda of Pres. Aquino’s administration aimed at providing financial risk protection for all Filipinos, specifically the poor, by ensuring universal PhilHealth coverage and improving the benefits under the Philhealth Insurance.
