Dasma- LGU, NCST sign MOA on study-now-pay later scheme

CALAMBA CITY, Laguna, January 16 (PIA) -- The National College of Science and Technology-Institute of Industrial Research and Training (NCST-IIRT) in Dasmarinas, Cavite marked another milestone in its nation building advocacies with the forging of a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the local government of Tuy, Batangas on January 12.

Through this synergy, the constituents of Tuy will not only be able to access the quality and industry-responsive education and training being provided by NCST but also in availing the zero-cash out study-now-pay later scheme for all the successful applicants coming from the municipality.

With the strong initiative and advocacies of Tuy Mayor Jose Jecerell A. Cerrado together with the Sangguniang Bayan and the municipal public employment service office (PESO), the youth of Tuy will be trained in the different curricular dual training system (DTS) programs offered by NCST-IIRT. Aside from being trained in-school, the students under the DTS program will also be trained in an actual working environment for 1-year while receiving a training allowance equivalent or higher than 75 percent of the prevailing minimum wage.

The municipality of Tuy is the 23rd LGU who partnered with NCST IIRT in the implementation of the DTS program. Together, the stakeholders believed that the synergism is not only limited to education but most of all, in improving the lives of the many Filipinos towards nation building. (Maria Bernadeth H.
