by Lito M. Giron

LUCENA CITY, Quezon, Jan. 16 (PIA) ---The 200 members of ‘Natatanging Sektor sa Lungsod ng Lucena, Incorporated’ (NSLLI) held its general assembly and fellowship to prove they can be more competitive and productive persons.

City Councilor Ramil Talaga, said the city government admires the principles of persons with disability (PWD) to live and act like normal persons. He admired their determination and skills in performing their jobs even with frailties.

“They are much better and good citizens compared to other persons like criminals, thieves, and beggars,” he added.

The city government thru Mayor Barbara Ruby Talaga initiated livelihood programs and provided college scholarship for PWDs, according to the councilor.

Among the livelihood programs the city government offers to NSLLI members are ‘sari-sari store’, massage therapy, hair cutting, doormat making and ‘kikay’ kit making.

NSLLI President Angie Quesea, NSLLI president, said through the support of the city government, their members are becoming more productive and competitive like any other person’s capabilities.

Quesea encouraged families of PWDs and other person with disabilities to join their group to prove to the society that they can live beyond the expectations of other people. (JMG, PIA-Quezon with report from PIO-Lucena)
