Value chain sensitization seminar,’ to enhance tourism in Quezon province

LUCENA CITY, Quezon, January 18 (PIA) ---The provincial government of Quezon will conduct ‘value chain sensitization seminar for tourism sector’ January 20 at Quezon convention center audio visual room aims at achieving sustainable development in the tourism industry of the province.

Alberto Bay, Jr., acting provincial tourism officer, said one of the priority programs of Quezon Gov. David Suarez is to achieve sustainable development in the tourism industry in the province.

“It is important to strengthen the involvement of local communities in the tourism sector to preserve the environment and promote well the local culture of the province,” Bay said.

He added the fully sensitization of the stakeholders on putting value chain concept and how it is applied on the tourism development plan in all the value chain functions may ensure the success of the provincial tourism industry.

According to Bay, the 39 municipalities and two cities in the province have their own tourism plans that need to be sensitized and refined so as sole identification of tourism attraction may be assigned to each place.

“The provincial tourism office is hoping that public and private institutions will attend this seminar to prove to local and international tourists that it is more fun in Quezon Province,” Bay concluded. (JMG, PIA-Quezon)
