Kiangan dads amend games & amusement ordinance for the protection of minors

KIANGAN, Ifugao, Jan. 5 (PIA) -- In an effort to protect minors and the general public, the municipal dads here amended certain provisions of municipal games and amusement ordinance, particularly the strict prohibition of students and minors in the premises of videoke bars, billiard halls, computer shops and video games during class hours.

Resolution no. 75 series of 2011 states that after a series of deliberation, the body found out that ordinance no. 01 series 2004 is not being strictly enforced to the detriment and protection of students and minors and the general public.

The provisions that were amended are for videoke bars, students and minors are strictly prohibited in the premises of the establishment during school days.

Students and minors maybe allowed entry in the establishment during Saturdays and Sundays or holidays or vacation provided that they are accompanied by their parents.

The minors are allowed to sing and be served with soft drinks but not with intoxicating beverages. Operators are mandated to send out minors and students from the establishment at exactly 7:00 p.m. to give ample time for them to be in their respective homes.

Students and minors are also strictly prohibited in the premises of billiard halls to play during class hours. They are allowed only after class hours and they should not be wearing their school uniform.

Betting or gambling in the billiard games is strictly prohibited. Those working in government and are in uniform are also strictly prohibited to play during office hours.

For computer shops and video games, minors are not allowed in the establishment during class hours from Monday to Friday. They maybe allowed from 4:45 to 6:00 PM and during Saturdays, Sundays holidays and vacation days.

Operators must close the establishment at exactly 9:00 PM but must send out minors at 7:00 p.m. in accordance with the provisions of Municipal Ordinance No. 01, series of 2004 and the Children’s Code. Gambling or betting on online gaming in internet connected shops is strictly prohibited.

Business operators and students and minors found violating any off the provisions stated shall be penalized accordingly. (JDP/VDB- PIA CAR, Ifugao)
