Bayle bridges in Kalinga to be converted to 2-lane concrete bridges

TABUK CITY, Kalinga, Jan.6(PIA) -- All Bayle- type bridges along the Kalinga-Abra road will be converted into two-lane concrete bridges. This is the plan of Congressman Manuel Agyao which will start soon.

According to Engr. Florante Balala of the Congressional District Office, replacement of seven bayle bridges were already bided out December last year and implementation will start this month by the Kalinga District Engineering Office (KDEO) through local contractors.

He identified the bridges as the Ableg bridge with a project cost of P16.2; Saleng bridge – P16.6M; Matacob bridge – P16.3M; Malkagao bridge – P14 M; Maatop bridge – P13.7; Ibong bridge – P16.4M, and Uling bridge – P16.6M.

The total P100 million budget of these seven bridges will come from the regular fund of KDEO through the initiative of the Congressman,” Balala said.

“After completion of the concreting of bridges from Ableg to Kalinga-Abra boundary, Pinukpuk bridges will be next,” Balala said of Agyao’s plan.

Others pipelined for concreting are bridges along the Pinukpuk-Balbalan national highway and the Catabbogan-Cal-owan road.“The replacement of these bridges were already proposed and hopefully funded in 2013,” said Balala who is the technical adviser of the Congressman on infrastructure projects.

These bridges along the Kalinga-Abra road will make provincial interconnectivity easier and safer while opening up better opportunities for trade, commerce and tourism.(JDP/PAB-PIA-CAR,Kalinga)
