Pasil, Tinglayan LGUs meet in KALAHI-CIDSS Talakayan

by Job David J. Manalang

BAGUIO CITY,Jan. 6 (PIA) -- Innovating activities in the community driven development project of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), community volunteers, local government units of Pasil and Tinglayan in Kalinga, and Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive Integrated Delivery of Social Services(KALAHI-CIDSS) staff came together in the first batch of Talakayan forum in the region.

The forum was called to discuss issues, concerns, and plans midway through their implementation of the KALAHI-CIDSS Project, one of the three convergence programs of the DSWD.

The activity aimed to gather the municipal and barangay representatives with staff of the KALAHI-CIDSS Regional Project Management office and to address possible gaps through the implementation of the project. It also aimed to plan out the next steps and activities that the municipality and barangays have to take to catch up with any delays in the implementation.

Municipal mayors, members of the Sangguniang Bayan, and some key local government units staff of the two towns attended the forum to listen to any concern that came from their barangays.

“I am here and we invited members of the municipal council to know from you (volunteers) what you still need so we can address any financial burden in your project implementation,” said Mayor James S. Edduba of Pasil in his opening remarks.

The RPMO with the area coordinating teams, LGU and barangays also gave updates in their barangay implementation. After each discussion barangays had to come up with action plans for the next few weeks in terms of what they need to do within project.

Both municipalities are currently in their first cycle of implementation and are in the finalization of the barangay project proposals.

The municipalities are targeting the month of January for their municipal inter-barangay forum for prioritization of sub-projects to be funded by the project grant.(PIA/ DSWD-CAR)
