Health office calls on the public to avail of health servicesby Vency D. Bulayungan
LAGAWE, Ifugao, Jan. 9 (PIA) -- The Provincial Health Office (PHO) here will exert more effort in delivering health services, programs and projects to the grassroots as it urged the public to work with the office in attaining the objective of a healthy community.
Provincial Heath Officer, Dra. Mary Jo. Dulawan, in the daily radio program “Humangan with PIA” said they are trying their best to reach out to the farthest barangays to meet the health needs of the people and she encouraged the public to visit the nearest health center/facility in their area.
In line with fifth Millenium Development Goal which is zero maternal death, Dulawan called on all pregnant women to seek pre-natal and to give birth in health facilities which are available in the 11 municipalities here. She added that the national government with the support of the provincial local government unit established and maintain seven government hospitals quipped with birthing facilities to meet the said goal.
She also said that there are trained barangay health workers and hilots in the 175 barangays here who can assist them, thus she averred that there should be no reason for any mother to die giving birth..
She informed that vitamins such as iron are available in the health centers which the mothers can avail of.
Dulawan also commended other stakeholders who helped in the construction of buildings and equipment such as the Japan International Cooperative Agency and the United Nations Population Fund . (JDP/VDB- PIA CAR, Ifugao)
