Ifugao holds 42nd Provincial Scout Jamboree

ASIPULO, Ifugao, Jan. 25(PIA) -- With the theme: “Scouting : For Unity, Peace and Brotherhood, a Gear Towards Creating a Better World”, the Boy Scout of the Philippines (BSP) Ifugao Council recently held their 42nd Provincial Jamboree at the Municipal Ground here.

Delegates from the different municipalities attended the three-day occasion led by Governor Eugene Balitang and Ifugao Schools Division Superintendent Estela Carino.

The first day started with a grand opening program of which Asipulo Mayor Eladio Bang-ud warmly welcomed all the participants. Carino, who was the guest speaker, encouraged all the scout leaders to strengthen the scouting movement in their respective communities and the boy scouts to do their avowed duties to God and country.

The scouts also tried their skills in the contested activities on knot tying relay, bandage relay, scout law relay, fire building with the use of bamboo, water boiling with the use of small sardine cans, rice cooking using bamboo and emergency simulation drill.

The contested activities were participated by one patrol each from the municipal delegations compose of eight boy scouts and eight senior scouts who provided their Crew Flag bearing the name of their school or district.

The Junior Scouts Campfire and cultural presentation in the elementary level were also held.

The boy scouts also had a tree planting activity with the assistance of personnel from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and challenge valley and adventure trail activity.

In the evening of the second day was the Senior Scouts Campfire and Cultural Night in the high school level attended by the local government officials and school teachers and officials.

The final day was dedicated to their duty to God involving a prayer ceremony and fellowship, followed by bathing, washing and cleaning of the different camps put up in the municipal ground. As the boy scouts departed from the community, they were singing boy scout songs and saying they will never forget this memorable experience in their life.(DBC/PIA-Ifugao)
