Update SSS records for faster processing of benefits

by Precie Catherine C. Cuarto

QUEZON CITY, Jan. 26 (PIA) -- The Social Security System is reiterating to its members to update their records and stay vigilant to avoid delay of pension procurement.

According to Joy Villacorta, head of the SSS OFW (Overseas Filipino Worker) Management, there are instances when members fail to check their records of contribution until they are about to retire. In effect, these members suffer a long process of clearing their records before receiving their pension.

Member without any problems with their records may receive their first pension 15 days right after their retirement.

“There are employers who do not really deduct [SSS contribution from salary]. But there are those who deduct[a portion from the salary], but do not remit to SSS. This is an estafa case. And we deal with delinquent employers,” Villacorta said.

Villacorta added that members should check their records at least once a year to clear any delinquencies, including those which involve the employers’ mandatory two-thirds contribution.

Records are accessible in all SSS branches and through the internet at, under 'My.SSS' corner.

Villacorta further said that SSS inspectorate units conduct investigations on reported negligent employers. Members are welcome to report any complaints—even anonymously—to SSS through phone call, e-mail, or postal mail.

Moreover, Villacorte said that under the law, employers should duly report the names of their employees for SSS coverage.

For inquiries, call SSS at telephone numbers 920-6446 to 55 or send an e-mail to (PCCC/PIA-GHQ)
