PhilPost releases Lyceum’s 60th anniversary stamp

MANILA, Jan. 15 (PIA) -- In celebration of the diamond jubilee year of the Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU), the Philippine Postal Corporation (PhilPost) recently released a special stamp in commemoration of the university’s founding anniversary.

According to PhilPost, the anniversary commemorative stamp is PhilPost’s way of recognizing LPU’s long and rich tradition of academic excellence.

The design of the stamps shows the magnificent tower of LPU that has endured the test of times, enclosed in the number 60, with a touch of golden yellow color representing the anniversary celebration, and with the map of the Philippines in the background.

Likewise, the stamp is designed with a white ribbon with the inscription “A Jose P. Laurel Legacy,” in honor of the founder who served as the inspiration behind the university.

Founded by the late former President Jose P. Laurel in 1952, President Laurel envisioned a center of academic excellence in the Philippines and the Far East, upholding the morale and character among its students.

At present, the Lyceum University of the Philippines has now five campuses: Makati, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, and its main campus in Manila.

Meanwhile, the official launching of the stamp will be held on Jan. 24 coinciding with the university’s foundation.

More than 100,000 pieces of anniversary stamps were printed at P7 each. (PhilPost-PIO/RJB/JEG-PIA-NCR)
