Tagalog news: Ayuda sa “spare part importation” ng public transport, pinag-aaralan

LUNGSOD NG QUEZON, Enero 17 (PIA) -- Inutusan ni Trade Secretary Gregory Domingo ang Philippine International Trading Corporation (PITC) na pag-aralan ang posibilidad na mabigyan ng ayuda ang sektor ng transportasyon sa pag-aangkat ng murang “spare parts” ng kanilang mga pampublikong sasakyan.

Sa isang interbyu sa radyo kamakailan, sinabi ni Domingo na ilalabas sa loob ng 30 araw ang resulta ng naturang pag-aaral na aniya’y makakagaan sa bigat ng dalahin ng sektor ng transportasyon dahil na rin sa kamahalan ng kasalukuyang presyuhan ng krudo sa pandaigdigang pamilihan.

Kuwento ni Domingo “binigyan natin ng instruction ang PITC – ang ahensiya sa ilalim ng DTI – na tignan ang kung ano ang mga kritikal spare parts ng ating transport sector. Tinitignan narin kung puwedeng i-import natin ito at iderekta sa mga kooperatiba (ng sektor ng transportasyon).”

Ang kagandahan ng mungkahing ito – kung maipapatupad – ay mababawasan ang “distribution channels” na siyang magpapababa ng presyo ng mga spare parts.

Paliwanag niya, natatagalan lang ang pag-aaral ng PITC sa pag-alam ng mga spare parts na sa palagay ng transport sector ay makakatulong kung ito ay aangkatin. Mahirap din kasi na mag-angkat nalang basta ng spare parts na hindi naman kailangan.

Liban sa ayuda sa pag-aangkat ng spare parts, inihirit rin ng transport sector ang pagtanggal ng duty o buwis sa pag-import nito.

Bilang tugon, sinabi ni Domingo na sa mga bansang miyembro ng Association of Southeast Asian Nations o ASEAN “zero na ang duty pero iyon non-ASEAN mayroon pa po tayong duty sa spare parts.”

Kasama sa ASEAN ang bansang Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia, at Philippines.(RJB/ DBNV/ PIA-NCR)
