Tagalog News: 'No-show' sa emission testing, kakastiguhin ng gobyerno

QUEZON CITY, Jan. 19 (PIA) -- Todo-bantay ang inter-agency team ng pamahalaan sa lahat ng private emission testing center (PETC) sa bansa upang matiyak na walang nangyayaring "no-show" o ang hindi pag-sipot ng mga nagpapa-rehistro ng sasakyan, ayon sa isang opisyal nitong Huwebes.

Sa programang Talking Points na ginanap sa Philippine Information Agency, sinabi ni Environmental Management Bureau--Policy Planning Division chief Ma. Victoria Abrera na bahagi lamang ito ng pinaigting na kampanya ng administrasyon ng Pangulong Benigno S. Aquino III upang maipatupad ang Clean Air Act para sa mga nagmamay-ari ng sasakyan.

Sa ilalim ng batas, kailangan muna kasing sumailalim at pumasa sa vehicle emission testing ang mga iparerehistrong sasakyan sa Land Transportation Office bago ito mabigyan ng kaukulang permiso para magamit sa lansangan.

Aniya, tinatayang aabot sa 70-80 porsyento ng polusyon sa hangin ang nanggagaling sa mga "mobile sources" o mga sasakyan na nagbubuga ng maruming usok.

Kaugnay nito, dahil daw sa inilagay nilang closed-circuit TV cameras at pakikipag-ugnayan sa mga ahensya tulad ng Department of Transportation and Communication, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Health at maging sa mga may-ari ng PETC ay bumaba ng 32-porsyento ang total suspended particulates (TSP) o polusyon sa hangin sa buong bansa, base sa pinakahuling pagsusuri ng Department of Environment and Natural Resources nitong Nobyembre 2011 kumpara sa parehong panahon noong 2010.

Sinabi pa ni Abrera na nilampasan pa nga nito ang naunang 2011 target ng DENR na 30 percent na kabawasan sa TSP o dumi sa hangin. (JJA/RJB/JCP-PIA NCR)
