Tagalog news: 1,000 siklista nakilahok sa Padyak Na! sa Marikina

MARIKINA CITY, Enero 24 (PIA) –- Umabot sa 1,000 siklista ang nakilahok sa ginanap na Padyak Na! bicycle fun ride nitong nakaraang Linggo, Enero 22 sa Freedom Park, Marikina City.

Pinasalamatan ni Marikina City Mayor Del De Guzman ang mga nakilahok at ang mga residente ng lungsod na patuloy na nakikiisa sa naturang programa.

“Salamat nang marami sa mga nakiisa sa ating kampanya. Nawa’y mas marami pa ang sumama sa mga susunod nating pagpadyak,” wika ni De Guzman.

Pinangunahan ng Marikina City Bikeways Office (MCBO) ang ginanap na bicycle fun ride kung saa’y layunin nitong palakasin pa ang kampanya ng lungsod sa paggamit ng bisikleta bilang alternatibong uri ng transportasyon.

Ang aktibidad ay nagsimula at nagtapos sa Freedom Park at tumahak sa 15 kilometrong ruta sa iba't ibang kalsada ng Marikina.

Bilang grupong mayroong pinakalamaking delegasyon, nakamit ng Marikina Cycling Club at Tumana Bikers Club ang Mayor’s Cycling Award kalakip ang P2,500 premyo. Nagkamit naman ng premyong P1,000 para sa iba't ibang titulo sina: Ryan Manabat (pinakalumang bisikleta), Arthuro Catañes (pinakamagandang disenyong bisikleta at rider), Tumana Bikers Club (pinakamagandang kasuotan), at Romy Francisco bilang (pinakalumang cycling jersey).

Samantala, isinusulong na rin ng lokal na pamahalaan ang 'Bike-to-Work' program na humihikayat sa mga mamamayan na gumamit ng bisikleta sa kanilang pagpasok sa trabaho o sa paaralan.

Kaugnay nito, nagkakaloob din ang lokal na pamahalaan ng libreng pag-aaral sa pamimisikleta.

Sa kasalukuyan, pinaghahandaan na ng lokal na pamahalaan ang ikalawang Cambio Del Independencia na gaganapin sa Hunyo 2012. (Marikina-PIO/RJB/JEG-PIA-NCR)
