De YroTUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, January 31 (PIA) -- Alumni of two schools here have bonded together and have tapped the New Jersey, USA–based Filipinos for a two-day medical and dental mission for the indigents of this city on Jan. 30-31. The batch of Former General Jefferson Soriano, President of High School Class 1971 of the former St. Louis College of Tuguegarao (now the University of Saint Louis) were joined by High School Classes 1971 and 1976 of the former Saint Paul College of Tuguegarao (now the St. Paul University-Philippines.) Soriano identified the organization of the Filipinos as the Mano-A-Mano International Relief Organization which provided the necessary medicine requirements direct from US. The organization was assisted by local medical health workers from at least three universities here who will provide at least eight medical services to the people. These include pediatrics, geriatrics, ophthalmology, dental, circumcision, minor surgery, OB-Gyne and dermatology aside from health lectures. With the theme “Napafutu Nga Serbisyu Para Ta Mapia Nga Gawagawayyan (Service from the heart for good health),” the mission is non-partisan. The patients, majority from this city, started to arrive as early as six o’clock to avail of the said services. Soriano said aside from medical check-up, the patients will likewise be provided with medicines. The team reported that as of 3 o’clock this afternoon, close to a thousand patients have been provided with various services. (BSY/PIA) |
