Tagalog news:Pagnakaw sa kable ng Philvocs, maaaring magdala ng panganib

LUNGSOD NG LEGAZPI, Enero 19 (PIA) --Humingi ng tulong si Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Secretary Mario G. Montejo sa Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) at Department of Justice (DoJ) upang mahuli ang mga responsable sa pagnakaw ng mga kable ng seismic sensors at unmanned relay stations ng Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

Sa ginanap na inter-agency meeting tungkol sa national flood program na pinangunahan ng DPWH at dinaluhan ng mga kinatawan ng DILG, DOJ, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), at Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), muling inihayag ni Montejo ang nagawang pagnakaw ng ilang metro ng kable at limang piraso ng 12-volt batteries sa Philvolcs’ seismic relay stations sa Sto. Domingo, Albay noong December 14, 2011.

Ang nasabing insidente ay dahilan ng pagkawala ng halos 50 porsiyento sa kanilang data transmission, ayon pa kay Phivolcs director Renato U. Solidum.

Diumano, mabuti na lang at hindi aktibo ang Bulakang Mayon ng mga panahong iyon bagama’t may naitalang volcanic activities na maituturing abnormal.

Bilang tugon, nagpahayag ang DILG at DOJ na gagawin nila ang kanilang makakaya upang mabigyang proteksyon ang mga mahahalagang monitoring equipment at gayundin ang pagparusa sa mga taong may kagagawan sa nasabing pagnakaw. (MAL/SAA-PIA V/Albay)
