PIA Press Release Monday, January 02, 2012Aklan starts year with adoption of ELAby Venus G. Villanueva KALIBO, Aklan, January 2 (PIA) -- The province of Aklan will be starting the year with clear and sure directions to further its development with the adoption by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) of its 2010-2013 Executive Legislative Agenda (ELA). The ELA of Aklan, according to a report from the SP Aklan Office, was adopted during one of the council’s last sessions, and defines the thrust and priorities of the Provincial Government to be implemented by the Executive Department with the corresponding legislative support from the SP. The legislative agenda is also defined and incorporated in the ELA document, according to the SP. In lauding the SP action on ELA, Aklan Gov. Carlito S. Marquez said the ELA will serve as a map upon which the programs and projects of the provincial government are laid down, recognized, approved and committed upon by those who are engaged in policy-making and implementation. “Like all journeys in history, especially those that have marked significant contribution to the development of the modern era, the ELA shall serve as the blueprint of the province’ development,” Marquez said. For her part, Aklan Vice Governor Gabrielle Calizo-Quimpo said a well-balanced, inclusive approach, according to certain standards and ideals, is essential for the proper governance of any local government unit. “As we are able to pass our ELA containing the major development thrusts and priorities of both the Executive and Legislative branches of government, we cannot imagine how to work things out without harmonious approach to projects for the next three years,” Quimpo said.
