Pre-enrollment for incoming grade 1 students now open

by Lilibeth A. French

ILOILO CITY, January 4 (PIA6) -- The 18 school divisions of the Department of Education 6 are now ready for early enrollment of incoming Grade 1 pupils in the region for school year 2012-2013.

DepEd 6 Resource Mobilization Special Program and Project Division Chief Dr. Eden Deriada urged parents and guardians to pre-register their qualified children for Grade 1 in the schools where they intend to enroll them.

“All they have to do is go to the school where they intend to enroll their children and look for the person assigned or designated to take charge of the pre-registration,” said Deriada.

Qualified for early enrollment in Grade 1 are children who were born on October 31, 2006 or earlier.

“Through this pre-enrollment activity, parents help the Department in giving information to know the possible interventions it will undertake to ensure the smooth opening of classes and that our school-aged children are in school,” said Deriada.

Deriada said the Technical Assistance Monitoring Team of the DepEd 6 will monitor the conduct of the pre-enrollment activity to see to it that it is being implemented by the school divisions in the region. (JCM/LAF/PIA6)
