'Bacolod Cares' donations non-stop

BACOLOD CITY, Jan. 7 (PIA) -- There’s no let up in the free-flow of donations for the victims of typhoon Sendong in Mindanao and Negros Oriental, under a public-private effort to ease the sufferings of the victims in those areas, a press release from the city's Public Information Office said.

Bacolod City’s rescue ll7, headed by Joe Marie Vargas, has actively coordinated relief operations.

The city has recently shipped from the New Government Center here, under the supervision of Vargas, boxes consisting of bottled purified water, 8 boxes sardines, 45 boxes noodle soup, and 37 boxes and sacks of used clothes.

Vargas said “Bacolod Cares” first shipment comprised 40 sacks of rice for Cagayan de Oro City and 45 sacks of the same commodity for Iligan City.

The 117 Chief also revealed that the next relief shipment will be next week that will be mostly used clothings for the evacuees in Tanjay, Negros Oriental who are still housed in public school evacuation areas with Congressman George Arnaiz overseeing the distribution of donations.

Donations are continually being shipped out via land and sea. Recent shipment was done using the city's dump truck and through private bus company Ceres Liner. (PIO/JSC/LOL-PIA6 Neg.Occ.)
