KALIBO, Aklan, Jan. 7 (PIA) -- The province of Aklan has now an official revenue code with its approval made recently by the Sangguniang Panlawigan (SP) here.

The revenue code, according to a report from the Aklan SP, is embodied in General Ordinance No. 2011-004 enacted during one of the last sessions of the legislative body for 2011.

According to the provincial board, the document covers real property taxes, taxes on business on printing and publication, franchise tax, professional tax, amusement tax, annual fixed tax on delivery trucks and vans, tax on small-scale mining, and sand, gravel and other quarry resources.

The revenue code also covers permit and regulatory fees, fees and charges on local economic enterprise, agricultural and veterinary fees, as well as charges on services and facilities of the Provincial Government iuncluding those at hospitals, sports complex, jetty ports and terminals.

The codification process was spearheaded by the SP through the initiative and guidance of Vice Governor Gabrielle V. Calizo-Quimpo with the support of Governor Carlito Marquez.

The revenue code is also the product of a seminar-workshop conducted for the SP and staff by the Development Academy of the Philippines. (Aklan SP/JSC/VGV-PIA 6 Aklan)
