All Systems go for Antique 2012 KALAHI CIDSS implementation

by Pilar S. Mabaquiao

SAN JOSE, Antique Jan 9 (PIA) -- It’s all systems go for the implementation of KALAHI-CIDSS (Kapit Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive Delivery of Basic Social Services) in the Province of Antique.

The provincial government of Antique and the eight covered municipalities have already secured their counterpart for the program to include local funds and from the Office of the Lone Congressional District of Antique, according to provincial social welfare and development officer Lazaro Petinglay.

“Project Officers of KALAHI-CIDSS have already conducted pre-engagement activities with local officials and are preparing for the installation of program offices in all municipalities covered,” Petinglay added.

Among the technical persons included in the KALAHI CIDSS workforce are engineers, social workers, project officers, bookkeepers and accountants.

The first six months of implementation will deal more with capability building activities for local stakeholders, including those included in the barangay level, he explained.

It will be recalled that in 2011, DSWD worked towards the approval of KALAHI CIDSS program in the towns of Anini-y, Culasi, Caluya, San Remigio, Valderrama, Laua-an, Pandan and Bugasong in the amount of P113,850,000 worth of development projects.

The program hopes to augment other government efforts aimed at reducing poverty and empower poor communities to become self-reliant and to have control over their resources. (JCM/PSM/PIA6 Antique)
