DSWD-7 welcomes ‘Kapuso’ foundation as new partner in CV

by Maryknoll B. Lague

CEBU CITY, Jan. 7 (PIA) --- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD-7) welcomes GMA Kapuso Foundation as its new partner in serving and uplifting the lives of the underprivileged members of the society especially with its new chapter in Cebu.

“We welcome partners such as Kapuso Foundation, in helping DSWD reach out to as many poor families as possible. Although they have always been an active partner in times of crisis, it is a good thing that they are now within reach in Central Visayas” said DSWD-7 regional director Ma. Evelyn Macapobre.

Macapobre noted that Kapuso Foundations is known as one of the accomplished, trusted and credible non-government organizations in the country and has been actively helping communities by providing quick-response relief operations to assist the national and local government in answering the needs of the poor.

‘Kapuso Foundation’ chair, Mel Tiangco said, “We value our relationships with our local and national partners, and recognize the impact that they have on our capability to provide help to those who need it most.”

Kapuso Foundation’s commitment in Cebu promised to carry out a number of developmental programs designed to promote education and foster learning in partnership with other government and non-government organizations in Central Visayas, Macapobre revealed.

“With the creation of a GMAKF Cebu Chapter, it is easier to serve our Kapusong Cebuanos. On the other hand, it also provides an opportunity for Cebu residents to show their care and concern to their kapwa Cebuanos through the Kapuso Foundation,” said Tiangco.

The DSWD’s all out support and hand in hand cooperation with the Kapuso Foundation is part of the department’s mandate of providing assistance to local partners from government agencies, NGOs, POs and other members of civil society to implement programs and services that will alleviate poverty and empower disadvantage individuals for an improved quality of life.
