QuiranteCATBALOGAN CITY, Samar, Jan. 31 (PIA) -- The first woman general of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine Army visited the men and women of the 8th Infantry Division on Jan. 27. In a press release, Brigadier General Ramona Go was welcomed by the 8th Infantry Division Commander Major General Mario Chan. Go was accorded the military honors in her visit to camp Lukban, home of 8th IDs finest army units. The woman –general inspired fellow females to work as hard to achieve her status. She also outlined the program on gender development that affords opportunities for all, be he a man or a woman. “It is making the right choices,” she told the gathered army elements. She also talked about the housing projects for the army in Luzon which she said is 100 percent done. “Locations are in Bulacan, Laguna and Cavite,” she explained. The government troops are almost always assigned everywhere in the country where their services are needed, that is why she urged them to apply for one. Meanwhile, Chan in his message gave accolades to the first woman-general for her feat. “Pag ibayuhin ninyo ang inyong ginagawa bilang kawal upang makamtan o mahigitan pa ninyo ang mga nagawa ni General Go (Continue with what you are doing so that you can be like General Go or even surpass what she did),” said Chan in his message.
