City gov't to pursue Philhealth Indigency Program in 2012

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, January 4 --The city government will continue to implement its Philhealth Indigency Program in 2012.

The 16th City Council headed by Vice Mayor Caesar Ian Acenas approved an allocation of P30 million to provide Philhealth benefits to 50,000 poor families in different barangays.

The Indigent Program or Medicare para sa Masa (MpM) is the main pro-poor program of PhilHealth.

The project was implemented by Mayor Vicente Emano to ensure that poor families are not deprived of medical services.

For City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) programs, legislators have set aside funds for it such as: Children in Especially Difficult Circumstances (P3.7 million), Social Development Center (P2.2 M), Street and Urban Working Children Program (P750,000), Street Children Support Program (P892,000), Peer Group Services (P100,000), Educational Assistance Program (P425,000), Practical Skills Development for Mothers (P200,000), Livelihood program for mothers (P300,000) and Women Development Center (P904,000).

Temporary shelter for mentally-ill persons (P425,000), Senior Citizens Care Center (P1.6 million), Institutional/Residential Services Support program (P360,000), Food for Work (P500,000), Assistance in Crisis Situations (P1.8 M), among others.

It may be recalled that during the regular session, the City Council approved the annual budgets of the General Fund with an estimated income of P1,783,388,410 and of the Special Account: Economic Enterprises with an estimated income of P107,386,389 for the City Economic Enterprises, P17,025,700 for the East-Westbound Terminals and Public Market, and P107,988,725 for the J.R.
