All set for Iligan City Division Jan. 3 classes

ILIGAN CITY, Lanao del Norte, Jan. 3 – Superintendent Randolph B. Tortola of Iligan city expressed his full assurance to resume classes on January 3 after series of consultations of school heads whose schools were damaged and severely affected by tropical storm ‘Sendong.’

Speaking during a meeting with teachers, school administrators, PTA presidents of school affected, Tortola called on the school heads to provide inspirations to teachers that they too become the reasons why children have to be inspired to return to schools amidst the turmoil they have experienced with Sendong.

“Every teacher is a multiplier. Whatever is poured upon her/him by the school head will effect to many,” he said reiterating his concern to them.

Meanwhile, 80% or 12 out of 15 schools affected by the storm is ready for classes.

This was realized because of mobilization of parents and stakeholders and the partnership with the Philippine Army (PA) doing ‘Brigada Eskwela.’

Three schools which are not ready are Bayug Elementary School and Mandurog ES which were totally wiped out and Hinaplanon ES which sustained severe damages with three rooms totally destroyed and 20 out of 27 teachers of the school affected by the storm.

Teachers, however, affirmed to use all strategies to account the children and do one’s share to normalize the trends education after the devastation. (DepEd/PIA-10)
