ILIGAN CITY, Lanao del Norte, Jan. 26 (PIA) -- President Benigno S. Aquino III said that aside from houses, school buildings will also be put up at the “Bayanihan” Village of Sta. Elena, to cater to the educational needs of the children affected by tropical storm Sendong.

The President made the announcement when he visited the city to participate in the celebration of the “Day of Volunteerism” last Jan. 25.

As one of the volunteers, the President took part in mixing cement and painting one of the first 300 Gawad Kalinga (GK) houses to be constructed in the area.

The activity was aimed to fasttrack the construction of the GK houses to be put up in the 15.9 –hectare property donated by the National Steel Corp., as permanent relocation site of the Sendong flashflood victims.
