Diffused tail-end of cold front may bring rains to Mindanao in the next 24 hrs. - PAGASA

by Rutchie Cabahug-Aguhob

ILIGAN CITY, Lanao del Norte, Jan. 26 (PIA) -- Mindanao will again experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms, in the next 24 hours.

This weather condition is brought about by the diffused tail end of the cold front affecting Northern Mindanao and the Visayas, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

In its 24-hour Public Weather Forecast issued at 5 am, today, Jan. 26, PAGASA said the Northern and Eastern Sections of Luzon will have mostly cloudy skies with light rains and the rest of Luzon will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rains.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the Northeast will prevail over Luzon and Visayas and the coastal areas will be moderate to rough.

Elsewhere in the country, however, the wind will be moderate coming from the East and Northeast with moderate seas.

Hence, Regional Director Ana Caňeda of the Office of Civil Defense (OCD), region 10, has called on the local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils (DRRMC) in the region to alert the residents to bring umbrellas and other protective rain gear when they leave their homes.

“This advise will be most useful to children when they go to school to prevent them from getting wet or sick of exposure to the rain unprotected,” adding that “prevention is always better than cure,” Caňeda, who is also the Chairperson RDRRMC-10, said. (PIA-10)
