PNoy earmarks P1.3-billion for rural electrification in Mindanao
    CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Jan. 30 (PIA) -- President Benigno Aquino III has approved recently the release of P1.31 billion for rural electrification program in Mindanao.
    This was announced before the 1st Mindanao Congress of the Advocates for Renewable Energy and Rural Electrification and Development (MinCARED) organized by the Association of Mindanao Rural Electric Cooperatives (AMRECO) here Thursday, by Administrator Edita Bueno of the National Electrification Administration (NEA). JFC sees 6% growth for Phl in 2012

    CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Jan. 30 (PIA) -- The Joint Foreign Chambers (JFC) is optimistic that the Philippines will post an economic growth of six percent in 2012 due to higher investments.
    John Casey, president of the Australian-New Zealand Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines, said the additional effects of the now fast-tracked rollout of government spending programs and public private partnership (PPP) program can also boost the economy. (+)

DOH notes 616 suspected lepstospirosis cases in region 10

    OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental, Jan. 31 (PIA) – A total of 616 suspected Leptospirosis cases have been recorded in region 10 as of Jan. 13, this year.
    Reports reaching the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) of region 10 from the Health Cluster of the Post Sendong Operations, show that the municipalities/cities with the most suspected cases were Cagayan de Oro City, Iligan City and the municipalities of Opol, Tagoloan and Villanueva, all of Misamis Oriental. 52.84 ha. in NorMin identified as relocation site for Sendong victims

    OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental, Jan. 31 (PIA) -- A total of 52.84 hectares of land have been identified as relocation site for the tropical storm Sendong victims in region 10.
    Per monitoring report submitted by the National Housing Authority (NHA) to the Post Sendong Operations Center of the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC), region 10, these sites will have a total of 6,602 lots. (+)

PNoy confers Galing Pook 2011 award to Misamis Oriental

    CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Jan. 31 (PIA) -- President Benigno Simeon Aquino III conferred a Plaque of Outstanding Program to Misamis Oriental with its local peace building initiative project, “The Lantad Peace-Building Experience: Turning Red to Green in Misamis Oriental” (From a ‘No Man’s Land’ to a Land of Hope/Strategic Innovations in Upgrading Misamis Oriental’s Provincial Peace and Order Council).
    Representing the province of Misamis Oriental, Governor Oscar S. Moreno received the Galing Pook Awards at the Rizal Ceremonial, January 30. (+)

Damage to schoolbuildings in region 10 due to Sendong reach P1.04B

    OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental, Jan. 31 (PIA) -- A total of P1.04 billion in damages to 28 public school buildings have been recorded in region 10 due to tropical storm Sendong last year.
    Eight of these school buildings with damages amounting to P261.10M were in the First Congressional District of Cagayan de Oro (CDO) while six others amounting to P556.85M were in the 2nd District of the city. (+)
