Ground breaking rites for P8.5-M PAMANA projects in Maguindanao held

COTABATO CITY, Jan. 12 (PIA) -- Preparations are underway for the implementation of two major infrastructure projects funded by the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) under its PAMANA (Payapa at Masaganag Pamayanan) program in Maguindanao.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held yesterday in Pandag town, one of PAMANA’s program beneficiaries in Maguindanao.

ARMM-OIC Vice Gov. Bainon Karon and Maguindanao Gov. Esmael “Toto” Mangudadatu led the ceremonies to signal the start for the implementation of two infrastructure projects worth P8.5 million.

Mangundadatu said the projects include construction of a footbridge and warehouse with solar dryer that would benefit farmers and agricultural workers in Pandag and nearby areas through easy access to trading center and storage facility.

These projects, Mangundadatu said, spell good news to farmers as these would spur livelihood activities and boost the economic growth not only of the town of Pandag and adjacent areas but Maguindanao in general.

Twenty percent of the project fund has already been downloaded to the provincial government to hasten the construction and completion of said projects, Mangundadatu said.

Meanwhile, Karon expressed her appreciation to the OPAPP for including Pandag as one of PAMANA’s target beneficiaries citing the urgency and relevance of the projects that would improve the quality of life of the people.

She urged the community to protect and help in the maintenance of the projects adding these are well deserved assistance from the national government to promote peace and development. (pbchangco/PIA
