    GENERAL SANTOS CITY, Jan. 30 (PIA)---Maitum’s 5th Bangsi Festival offered more fun this year as it opened Thursday (Jan 26) to celebrate the bountiful wealth of the sea and the lush forest that Mother Nature endowed to the town.
    Maitum is one of the seven municipalities of Sarangani that has advanced itself as one of the promising tourist destinations of the province so far. (+)

Dep Ed Regional Secretary starts reforms in DepEd-ARMM

    COTABATO CITY, Jan. 30, (PIA) -- The newly appointed head of the Department of Education in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao DepEd-ARMM) vows to push needed reforms in support of OIC-regional governor Mujiv Hataman's reform agenda for the region.
    Atty. Jamar Kulayan who was recently appointed by Hataman as DepEd-ARMM regional secretary assured to pursue reforms to address and resolve the perennial problems hounding the agency in order to improve the quality of education in the region. (+)

South Cotabato LGU hands more chairs, tables to public schools

    KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato, Jan. 31 (PIA) -- In line with its continuing efforts to help the Department of Education (DepEd) address its problems, the provincial government of South Cotabato donated chairs and tables to 11 public schools.
    In a ceremony at the covered court at the provincial capital here just recently, Governor Arthur Y. Pingoy, Jr. handed 49 tables, 790 arm chairs and 351 kiddie chairs to school heads. (+)

2 Soccsksargen products chosen for country branding and international packaging dev’t

    KORONADAL CITY, January 31 (PIA) -- Two unique products from Region 12 or Soccsksargen Region have been selected for international branding development in cooperation with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), a top official of the regional Department of Science and Technology (DOST) confirmed.
    Dr. Zenaida P. Hadji Raof Laidan, DOST-12 director, identified the two distinct products from Region 12 as the “Kafe Balos” and T’nalak cloth. (+)

DSWD 12 to promote public-private partnership in its livelihood programs

    GENERAL SANTOS CITY, Jan 31 (PIA) -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development has called on its regional and provincial offices to strengthen network building strategies in view of implementing sustainable livelihood programs of the government.
    Vergil Cabugayan, PDO III of the DSWD central office, emphasized during a recent program evaluation and planning that Public-Private Partnership must be enhanced through networking efforts of program planners and implementers of livelihood programs. (+)

Gensan pushes for efficient tax collection measure

    GENERAL SANTOS CITY, Jan. 30 (PIA) – The city government here is pushing for the establishment of a computerized integrated tax administration system, an efficient measure expected to boost local income.
    City Administrator Atty. Jose Mariano Gonzales said efficient tax collection measure is one of the administration’s moves to ensure the continuous delivery of basic services to the people and enhance the city’s capability for business opportunity despite the cut in the Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) made by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) this year.
