P16.5 million allocated for early childhood care, development and education programby David M. Suyao
AGUSAN DEL SUR, Jan. 6 (PIA) -- Agusan del Sur District I Congresswoman Maria Valentina “Tina” Plaza has allocated P16.5 million for an early childhood care, development and education program.
The program, which will be implemented through the office of the Provincial Governor Adolph Edward Plaza, will have three to four phases. The first phase will be implemented in the municipalities of Veruela, Loreto and Lapaz initially, to be followed by other municipalities in District I.
Program consultant Fr. Anthony Salas, SVD, said the program will include the construction of the day care centers andtraining of day care teachers to help them cope with the culture-sensitive curriculum.
According to another consultant Fr. Eugene Docoy, the executive director of Justice, Peace, Integrity of Creation- Integrated Development Center (JPIC-IDS), their organization is an NGO based in Cebu City which also covers Agusan del Sur and other areas in the country.
“We share responsibility in the development of children with the community, the parents, the local officials, and everyone who offers to be stakeholders,” said Fr. Docoy.
Agusan del Sur was also recipient of the Country Program for Children V and VI from 1999 to 2009. This year’s program on early childhood care, development and education aims to strengthen Agusan del Sur’s effort in the development of the Agusan children. (PIA-Agusan del Sur)
