Caraga RDC chair creates Board of Economic AdvisersSURIGAO DEL NORTE, Jan. 10 (PIA) -- Governor Sol Matugas, chairperson of the Regional Development Council (RDC) of Region 13, has created the RDC Board Economic Advisers during a meeting held recently at Manila Hotel.
According to Matugas, the board is tasked to conduct development studies in the region and facilitate outsourcing of funds from foreign funding institutions.
“The challenge is to infuse more economic program packages to the local government units to make the regional economy robust and vibrant,” Matugas said.
Dr. Vicente B. Paqueo, Senior Economic Consultant of World Bank will head the RDC Economic Advisers. Pacqueo happens to be a Surigaonon.
Members with Surigaonon roots are Dr. Ruperto Majuca of National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) - Central Office and Dr. Aniceto Orbita of the Philippine Institute of Development Studies (PIDS). Another member is Dr. Danny Israel still from PIDS whose family is from Agusan del Sur.
The Board will be formally introduced during the RDC Full Council Meeting in March this year.
The meeting was attended by Cong. Francisco Matugas of the first Congressional District, Director Carmencita Cochingco of NEDA-13 and Mr. Arturo Cruje, Provincial Planning and Development Officer of Surigao del Norte. (Provincial Planning and Development Office/PIA-Surigao del Norte)
