Lady cop is new BCPO station 2 Commander

by Robert E. Roperos

BUTUAN CITY, Jan. 10 (PIA) -– A lady cop here has made history in leading the police force at the Butuan City Police Office (BCPO) Station 2.

PCInsp. Rowena Martinez was chosen to replace the former station commander, following the series of holdups that were taking place here on the first week of January, 2012.

In an interview with BCPO Director PSSupt. Pedro Obaldo after the simple turnover of command on Monday (Jan. 9), the official said Martinez is among the police officers who have good track of service record.

“Sa mga nagawang operations ng BCPO, isa si Insp. Martinez sa mga nagpakita ng tapang upang hulihin ang mga criminal… In spite of being a woman, siya ang isa sa pinakamatapang nating pulis sa ating hanay ngayon,” Obaldo said.

(In operations of BCPO, Insp. Martinez is one of the police officers who showed bravery to run after criminals… Inspite of being a woman, she is one of the most valiant police officers in our row today.)

Obaldo said with the designation of the new station commander, he has high hope that Martinez can give solution to the holdup incidents and other crimes in the station’s area of responsibility.

The city director here also said Insp. Martinez is the first lady cop who was assigned to lead the police force in station 2 here.

Accordingly, Butuan City Mayor Ferdinand Amante, Jr. requested the city director to replace the station 2 commander because of the unsolved crimes in Langihan, this city.

It was learned that businessmen in Langihan Public Market are dismayed over the slow proceedings implemented under the leadership of the former station commander to solve criminal cases specifically on the series of holdup incidents.

Meanwhile, Obaldo said all station commanders in the city are now being monitored and if they are not performing well, they will be subjected for investigation and even replacement. (PIA-Caraga)
