Foreign nationals may apply for permanent residency, immigration says

by Robert E. Roperos

BUTUAN CITY, Jan. 13 (PIA) -- Foreign nationals may now apply for permanent residency in the country.

According to Bureau of Immigration (BoI) Alien Control Officer Pastor P. Moran, Jr. foreigners who are married to Filipino nationals may stay in the country as long as they like if they have documents signifying their permanent residency.

“Ang mga foreigners nga nagminyo og mga Filipinas or Filipinos pwede na mag-apply og permanent residency by marriage… tungod niini, dili na sila mamahimong illegal alien dinhi sa atong rehiyon,” Moran said.

(Foreigners married to Filipinas or Filipinos may now apply for permanent residency by marriage… because of this, they will not be called illegal alien anymore here in our region.)

Moran said after the application is approved and all the necessary requirements have already been complied with, they are now authorized to put up business.

“Kung ma-approve na ang application ug na-comply na ang tanang mga requirements, pwede na pud sila motukod og negosyo kay legal na man ang ilang pagpuyo dinhi,” Moran said.

(If the application is already approved and requirements are already complied, they can also establish business because their stay is already legal.)

With this, Moran said interested parties may get in touch with their office at (085) 342-5097. (PIA-Caraga)
